Amongst other things, a main task of the year was a project with the aim to launch an e-learning platform in the field of waste management in Viet Nam.
Beside the environmental education in inland and foreign countries, efforts were made to start projects in the field of renewable energy in Eastern Europe.
Within the scope of the restructuring, the NORDUM Institut für Umwelt und Analytik was renamed to NORDUM Akademie. The office has relocated to Rostock. Furthermore NORDUM started to manage 5 wind turbines in the megawatt range.
NORDUM joined the “enviMV – Umwelttechnologiennetzwerk Mecklenburg-Vorpommern” network.
At the end of the year a realignment in the company took place. The areas of further education, renewable energy and consulting became more and more the main focus of NORDUM.
In this context the former laboratory division was sold to the company Kiwa Control. Kiwa is an international enterprise with the emphasis on: certification and material testing. NORDUM and Kiwa agreed on a long term co-operation in several areas.
In this year, the accreditation according to the international standard DIN ISO/IEC 17025 was getting renewed. Within the framework of the reaccreditation a wide-ranging expansion of the accredited procedures took place, for example the determination of emission and immission values.
NORDUM obtained the patent for a biological indicator to detect pollutants in water.
In Sao Paulo, Brazil, NORDUM established the company NORDUM do Brasil - Instituto brasileiro – alemao de Educacao e Meio Ambiente Ltd. (NORDUM of Brazil – Brazilian Institute – German Education and Environmental Protection). The company has its main focus on further education and consulting in the field of environmental protection.
In October 2000, NORDUM celebrated their 10th anniversary together with friends of the company and guests of economics and politics. On this occasion, the results of the newly developed sewage test were published and could be presented to a wide audience.
In the year 2000, NORDUM gained for the first time the accreditation according to the international standard DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025.
Within the framework of research projects, NORDUM started with the development of a biological test, which enabled the effect-related analysis of pollutants in sewage. This development was simultaneously accompanied by an expansion of the business areas to other fields of biological research.
In 1995 the NORDUM Akademie GbR (NORDUM Acadamy BGB company) had its spin-off from the company with the emphasis on the field of further education. The professional competence in the field of environmental technologies is mainly based on the experience of the employees of the NORDUM Institute.
In year 1994, NORDUM reached another highlight of their development. A brand-new company building was built in the industrial park Kessin. Finally the newly acquired conditions of work were corresponding to the already existing knowledge and technical know-how of the company.
In February 1992, the NORDUM Institut für Umwelt und Analytik GmbH & Co. KG established another branch office in Neubrandenburg located in the technology, innovation and foundation center Neubrandenburg.
The NORDUM Institut für Umwelt und Analytik GmbH & Co. KG (NORDUM Institute for Environment and Analysis L.L.C.) was founded in 1990 as a private independent company for environmental consulting and pollutant analysis in the technology park Warnemünde.
